The Cielo e Terra winery has two strong roots in the Veneto region of north-east Italy. The first is the Cielo family: a history of 4 generations. The second is the Cantine dei Colli Berici cooperative, with over 2000 associated winegrowers. In 1908, Giovanni Cielo, the founder, bought a small estate in Montorso, overlooking the castles of Romeo and Juliet. Grandfather Pietro developed the wine business and saved the estate during the war.

He was a great communicator, deeply committed to social responsibility. The third generation of Cielo, Giovanni, Renzo and Piergiorgio, took over the reins in the 1960s. Innovation and commitment earned the winery a good reputation throughout Italy. With the fourth generation, Pierpaolo and Luca, the Cielo winery joined Cantine dei Colli Berici and was renamed Cielo e Terra (Heaven and Earth). This is a successful union between a family business and a cooperative.

Cielo e Terra has two roots in the Veneto region: the Cielo family and the winemakers of Cantine dei Colli Berici.

The Cielo family's bond with the land began in 1908 in the Vicenza countryside, near the Castelli di Romeo e Giulietta (Romeo and Juliet's Castles), where great-grandfather Giovanni had bought a small farm with a vineyard. Grandfather Pietro continued to run the company with passionate enthusiasm and social commitment. In the 1960s, the third generation, Giovanni, Renzo and Piergiorgio, built the new winery, a combination of tradition and innovative research with marked expansion at a national level.

Today, Luca and Pierpaolo are at the helm of the company, supported by the winemakers of the Cantine dei Colli Berici.
The vineyards of our associated winegrowers extend between the provinces of Vicenza and Verona.

The land has volcanic and basaltic origins, and the charm of its landscape has remained intact over time. Composed of forests and vineyards, it is dotted with small, well-kept villages and Palladian villas and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for many years.

We are proud to live in a rich and fertile area. Large expanses of forest and an excellent climate, together with our proximity to the sea and the protection of the Small Dolomites, have made this land ideal for growing vines since ancient times. Garganega and Tai wines were produced here, and the oldest evidence of Prosecco production can be found here.

In fact, Prosecco di Monte Berico is mentioned in a literary volume from 1754 entitled "Roccolo Ditirambo".
