Caymus Vineyards was founded in 1971 in Rutherford, California, USA, by Charlie Wagner and Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, after a long history of vineyard cultivation dating back to 1906.
In 1972 Charlie Wagner, his wife Lorna and son Chuck produced their first vintage, using grapes from their 55 hectares of vineyards, at a winery named after the Mexican land grant known as Rancho Caymus, awarded to George Yount in 1836, which encompassed what later became the town of Rutherford and its surrounding areas.
Today, the family continues to operate the vineyards in the fifth generation, led by Chuck, Joe and Charlie Wagner, with nearly 350 hectares, in 14 different locations in the Napa Valley area, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir grape varieties, with an average age of 40 years.
They make their wines in Napa Valley (California, USA) under the brands Conundrum, Mer Soleil, Belle Glos and of course Caymus.
