Conundrum Winery belongs to the Wagner family. Conundrum means “riddle” as we always have to guess the percentages of grapes that make up our wine. This wine was first produced and presented by the Wagner family in 1989. Caymus Vineyards was founded in 1971 in Rutherford (California, USA), by Charlie Wagner and Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, after a long history of growing vineyards, dating back to 1906.

In 1972 Charlie Wagner, his wife Lorna and their son Chuck produced their first vintage, using grapes from their 55 hectares of vineyard, at a winery named after the Mexican land concession known as Rancho

Caymus, granted to George Yount in 1836, encompassed what later became the town of Rutherford and surrounding areas. Today the vineyards are still being operated by the family in the fifth generation, led by Chuck, Joe and Charlie Wagner, with nearly 350 hectares, in 14 different locations in the Napa Valley area, planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir grape varieties, with an average age of 40 years.
They make their wines in Napa Valley (California, USA) under the brands Conundrum, Mer Soleil, Belle Glos and of course Caymus.

The first vintage of Conundrum was a 1989 wine produced by the Wagner family's Caymus Vineyard. Conundrum is now an independent brand from the Caymus winery overseen by the Wagners but produced by winemaker Jon Bolta. In 1983, Jon Bolta began working with the Wagners in different areas of production (vineyards, bottling, etc.) and eventually began helping Caymus owner Chuck Wagner in winemaking. Jon began to dedicate himself to the artisanal production of the Conundrum style, in 1988 Chuck decided to officially name him as the producer of this wine and to this day he continues to be its producer based at the new Conundrum Winery in Monterey County. Conundrum is a fascinating blend of white grapes! A unique and unconventional wine!

Conundrum is a complex, lively, expressive wine full of fruity, floral, and citrus flavors, ideal for pairing with creative dishes offered by today's generation of chefs.
“Conundrum,” meaning puzzle, is the intent of this wine to guess the percentages of the grapes that comprise it: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat-Canelli, Semillon and Viognier. Conundrum is a truly California wine, with grapes sourced from Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare Counties. We selected the Stelvin screw-top closure because it helps protect the fine aromas and flavors of this distinctive blend, allowing the bottle to be easily closed and refrigerated. The tight-fitting closure also eliminates the possibility of cork taste.
